How to use PDFfit

How PDFfit works

PDFfit runs a full PDF engine (Ghostscript, compiled to WebAssembly) inside your browser tab. Drop a PDF, pick a target, and it rewrites the file locally — downsampling images and rebuilding the document the same way desktop tools do.

Your file never leaves your device

Most "compress PDF" sites upload your document to their servers. PDFfit never does: there is no upload, no queue, and nothing to delete afterwards. Turn off your network after the page loads — it still works.

FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes. Compressing one file at a time is free, forever, with no limits per day.

What does Pro add?

A one-time purchase unlocks batch compression and the Max preset. No subscription.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

Scanned and image-heavy PDFs typically shrink 60–90%. Text-only PDFs are often already tight — if we can't make it smaller, you keep your original.

Is there a browser extension?

Yes — same tool, one click from your toolbar, still fully offline.
